Victor Kolesov Biography
The whole thing is a hat: the Vologda musician Viktor Kolesov-about jazz, guitars, festivals and Vologda Autumn Irina Sorokina, few people know that this person was born in Leningrad, once engaged in Chinese martial arts and really loves to collect mushrooms in the forest, although such happiness does not occur often to him. But, seeing his hat on stage, everyone will say for sure: Viktor Kolesov will speak.
His musical element is jazz and blues, it is thanks to him and his wife Catherine in Vologda that this direction develops. And, despite his constant performances in different cities of Russia, he is ready to admit the love of the Vologda public every day. Viktor Kolesov talks about music, creativity, family and, of course, about his famous hat in an interview with the magazine "Sphere".
Victor Vladislavovich, your whole life is connected with music, where did such love be born? As a child, I realized that music is mine. When I was very small, I just liked to look at notes, redraw them. As far as I remember, the notes were always at home: both in the magazines that parents wrote out, and just in everyday life, because the family was musical.
Apparently, this musicality was transmitted to me: I mastered the guitar in school age, without attending a music school, even mastered theory and harmony. He could play the notes of the works of classic guitarists-Matteo KaCasis or Alexander Ivanov-Kramsky. Parents supported my hobby, especially my mother advocated for him: I often accompanied her when she sang romances, and she was always proud of my success.
At school, of course, the music “The Beatles”, which we often played in school evenings, did not bypass me. I already had my own team, and not even one. But the most popular - “child prospects”, we were even invited to other schools to perform. We participated in a large -scale music forum of the year, when all graduates and university students gathered in the Square of the Revolution.
In a large car with thrown sides, equipment was installed, and we played the popular dance music of those years all night. It was very cool! Of course, I wanted to continue to seriously engage in guitar. But in Vologda, then many teachers treated the game on this instrument as pampering, hooliganism. Classics could probably be studied, only in Moscow, for example, at the school of Alexander Ivanov-Kramsky.
I entered the Vologda Musical School on wind instruments, graduated from it with a tubist. Of course, I devoted a lot of time to the guitar, but it was thanks to the tube that I perfectly served in the army in the orchestral troops near St. Petersburg, even led the Big Band there, which was played by jazz. And our army VIA "Grazes" successfully performed at various soldier's competitions and played dancing in the house of officers.
Has love for blues and jazz began in the army? Much earlier. But the more I got acquainted with this music, the more it clung to me. I perfectly remember the Hollywood film about the American jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald. I was very small then, but I liked it so much as they sang and played in this picture that I went to the cinema several times. Immediately imbued with jazz aesthetics.
Then I began to listen to the jazz very popular at that time and the rock of the Chicago and Blood, sweat and tears groups. He played their music - then he himself shot a lot by ear, wrote scores.
Visiting artists came to our performances and did not believe their ears - they did not think that in Vologda you could hear such music. The team was wonderful. From that composition, for example, thrombonist Nikolai Shamin: he outplayed in many iconic Symphony orchestras of Russia, has been working in Igor Butman's Big Bend for many years ... In general, no matter how Soviet times were scolded, then young people had more opportunities to do something, and many wonderful groups performed in Vologda.
At each plant there was a set of tools for the Big band, rehearsed by choirs, ensembles. For the enterprise, this was considered very prestigious, so the team was given a place and time without problems - just do it. And the tube remains for you in the past? With a tube, I fought for a long time at the school, because this is a serious tool. He played the jacket of Ecels on the state exam, and I still dream of it - this is so difficult technically music that now I will not even risk it on the guitar.
In the exam I had a curious incident. Two days before the surrender, we smoked between rehearsals, and my accompanist Lyalya Katlya threw me a box of matches, which very “successfully” hit the tube of tubes right. I could not shake it in any way. They tried to wash it with water, but nothing came of it - the matches flew out, and the boxes remained. In the end, the guys drove me off so that I would not see what they would do with my tool, cut in the right place, got everything and was covered with dense isolation.
The sound was not entirely correct, I was very worried, but nevertheless I played the program on the four ... Then my teacher Mikhail Semenovich Gerasimenko noted that I would easily enter the conservatory, but the love of the guitar was stronger.Immediately after the school, I was distributed directly to the Vologda Regional Philharmonic, where I worked for several years. There I became the head of the ensemble “Fun Wind”, we had my own music program, which was prepared with us by Muscovites - director, choreographer, composer.
For creative people, a reliable rear is very important - tell us about your family. This year turned 39, we got married with Katerina. We met at the school when I came from the army. As he saw her, so immediately fell in love. It was impossible not to pay attention to her: tall, beautiful, well -educated. He studied at the Korovik conductor, also lived with music.
Katerina is a magnificent musician and teacher. We got married, the wedding, of course, was musical: I sang and played, the guests did not lag behind. After the school, Katerina entered the Leningrad Institute of Culture. She finished her studies by her mother - we had the eldest son of Roma. In her final exam, I and my three -year -old Romka arrived incognito, wanted to make a surprise.
She saw us only when she was handed a diploma on stage. Then she taught at 32 schools, where she organized wonderful choirs with the guys. Her students at the reporting concert sang Bach and Handel. Katerina is a very enthusiastic person, but even at school and disappeared, she had time at home. In general, she is very purposeful, if she set a goal, she will achieve her.
Since childhood, she has a huge love for books, re -read all the classics. My wife is the main expert of my musical creations, she has a good taste, and I listen to her opinion. She is a tough musical critic, but if something hooked her, then it turned out to be standing. Of course, in their youth, two creative people were not easy to get along, but now it’s good, because they chose each other correctly.
We have wonderful children and grandchildren to whom we conveyed love for music. The son Roman could also become a professional musician, but chose his own. He grew up in those days when it was difficult to earn music. My son has repeatedly said that I am grateful to me for showing him by example, how difficult it is to engage in music, creativity, keep my family and not lose myself.
Roman sings remarkably, accompanies his guitar, can play several plays on the piano, loves and feels jazz. In his youth, for 10 years with the company organized evenings for his circle. And somehow, in his youth, he admitted that in Jazz he loves the pipe most of all-and I gave it to him. She was lying for a long time, there were attempts to master it, but it was a difficult tool, one thing is to listen to him, and another is to play it.
As a result, he did not become a trumpeter. Now grandchildren are pulling up to music. Andryusha and Leva are very fond of coming to our visit, and with the elder we are already starting to slowly play four hands. Daughter Anna builds a musical career in Sochi, really wants to devote herself to music, and I hope that she will succeed. She has been performing with us from early childhood, many people know her, in Sochi he manages to jam with a top bass player Anton Davidian and other musicians.
But the music has not yet become her profession, although she strives for this. You convey your musical experience not only to children, but also to students. Yes, I have students, although I did not teach hundreds of students. A few years ago I was invited to teach a guitar in our art college. One of the reasons for my refusal-I am psychologically not ready for the teaching routine: to nurse with students, give them grades, fill out the magazine, report to the authorities, why the one and that are poorly engaged.
I myself did not, on the contrary, “got” all the teachers, whatever they play - even on the button accordion, even on the guitar, agreed on the lessons and took everything that I needed. To become a real musician, you need to understand for yourself that you cannot without it, and absorb everything like a sponge. But individually, I deal with people, because I see that this is their conscious choice and each time they have been added to knowledge and skills.
I was always lucky with students: those who want to study are treating, take from me what is needed, and we are grateful for it. The most tenacious and musical parted - to Moscow, Peter, even abroad. The guys create groups, write music. For some, it remains a hobby, and someone became a professional. Your students strive in big cities, but did you never want to leave Vologda?
I have been asked more than once why I live here, called to Moscow. But my family, children appeared quite early, and I did not want to move with them, I did not want to live in rented apartments. Here I had parents, relatives, friends, and in Vologda it is definitely better than on the outskirts of the capital. Over time, I realized that you can live and create in my city and thereby develop it.
I never pulled me to cross abroad, although I performed in Holland, Finland, Germany, Japan.
