Alim Keshokov. It was precisely such intellectual and moral authority that the outstanding Kabardian writer Alim Keshokov, a national poet, writer, publicist and public figure, who left a significant literary heritage, which is the enduring value of our country. Alim Pshemakhovich was born on July 22 in the village of Shalushka, now the Chegemsky district of Kabardino-Balkaria and already in childhood began to write poetry.

The tendency to literary creativity was expressed in choosing a profession: after graduating from the philological department of the Pedagogical Institute in Vladikavkaz, he worked as a teacher of the Kabardian language and literature, taught Russian language and literature at the Kabardian pedagogical work faculty. Then he entered graduate school in Moscow, became the director of the Kabardino-Balkarian Research Institute of Local Lore in Nalchik.

Under his editorship in the year the book “Nart Tales” was published. But all dreams and plans were changed by the war. During the battles, Alim Keshokov proved himself as a patriot and a courageous warrior. During the Great Patriotic War, he served as a personnel officer in the Kabardino-Balkarian Cavalry Division, was wounded during the battle of Stalingrad. After discharge from the hospital, he participated in the liberation of Donbass, Zaporozhye, Melitopol, Crimea, and the Baltic states.

Awarded with high orders and medals of the Fatherland. Met the end of the war with the rank of major. Then he was in responsible party, government and creative positions. And this activity went far beyond the borders of the native republic. Alim Keshokov waged active public work for many years, was a deputy of various levels of power. But this did not prevent him from creating!

Poems and poems, prose and journalism brought Keshokov the love of readers and a high assessment of the homeland.

However, after his death, he returned home: he was buried in the family cemetery in the village of Shalushka near Nalchik. He was in fact: the memory of Keshokov and gratitude to him will always live in the hearts of compatriots. And this is true, because the sincere word of the great master and man is an enduring value.
