It is believed, along with Yuri Medvedev, one of the ideological leaders of the defeat of Soviet science fiction. Shcherbakov published a number of works in the field of non -academic historical theories and concepts, issued a number of documentary books in which he wrote about the secrets and riddles of the disappeared civilizations, interpreted many abnormal phenomena of the civilization of winged snakes, weapons of aliens, the elixir of immortality, the magic of David Copperfield.

In years, he became interested in the search for the legendary Atlantis. In the works "All about Atlantis" and "Where to look for Atlantis? In his opinion, the mammoths died as a result of a giant mudflow stream after a giant asteroid falling into the Atlantic, which he called the Saissky in memory of the Saisian priests on the heavenly fire in memory of Plato in the Timea dialog.

He also wrote two stories on this subject: “The Far of Atlantis” and “The Golden Hall of Poseidon”, published in the year under the same cover with the book of J. Coosto “In Search of Atlantis”. For the first time in Russia in the year he transferred the first chapters of the Veles Book. The writer considered the name “Vlesov Book” and replaced it with the Swan Book. Exploring the “meta -chistory”, he came to the conclusion that the genetic roots of the Old Russian and other Slavic ethnic groups go back to the Yefeutic tribes of the Caucasus.

He worked mainly in the line of the Kurgan, Anatolian and Armenian hypotheses, exploring the roots of the Indo -Europeans in Central Asia the times of the ancient world.

Based on the direct instructions of the medieval collector of Scandinavian mythology, Snorri Sturluson, Shcherbakov suggested that in antiquity the ancestors of the northern Indo-Europeans came from Southwest Mongolia through Central Asia Plato Ustyurt, then went down to Kopetdag. The books of Shcherbakov include ancient tamgas and runes depicted on the rocks of Mongolia. In his opinion, they are repeated with minor changes in the historical monuments of Iceland. The author called these runes "runes of the gods." For the script of a documentary about the biofield “Invisible Life of the Forest”, the Kiev studio of popular science films, he was awarded a prize at the XI World Film Festival “Ecofilm” in the island.

He was a member of the Union of Writers of Russia, a corresponding member of the International Academy of Informatization, from the year-the president of the Moscow Club of Secrets.
