All this applies to Jan Larry. This name often does not say anything to many readers, but it is worth pronouncing the name of only one of the books he wrote and ... magic works: “The extraordinary adventures of Karik and Vali.” Meanwhile, this story was written no more or less, but more than 80 years ago!

And before that there was a whole life. At the junction of journalism and biology, the famous Soviet children's science fiction writer Yang Leopoldovich Larry was born on February 15 in Riga. He was left without parents at 9 years old. In order not to live in a shelter, he wandered and wandering, worked sex in the tavern and a student of the watchmaker. When the First World War began, Jan Leopoldovich was drafted into the army.

After the revolution, he helped the establishment of Soviet power, fought in the civil war in the Red Army in the civil war. These stormy events in the life of a young man could not drown out a craving for creativity, writings, and new knowledge. Jan Larry came to work as a correspondent in the Kharkov newspaper "Young Leninets". But, since it was a time of development of Russian science, and young people strove for knowledge, the future writer Jan Larry went to study.

He graduated from the Biofak of Kharkov University, then the biological faculty of the Leningrad State University and graduate school of the All -Union Research Institute of Fisheries. It seemed that the acquired knowledge is far from literature, but, as it turned out, not so far.

Larry writer biography

In search of his topic, the first works of Jan Larry saw the light in the years. For example, the story “How it was” was published about village children, who not only on a par with adults participate in the formation of a collective farm, fight with fists, but also assemble a radio, build a chickens. Then the book “Five Years” about the first five -year plan of Soviet power is published.

The story “Window to the Future” dates back to the same time, in which Jan Larry performed in the genre of science fiction. However, she did not become popular among readers, and Jan Leopoldovich did not consider her successful. In the year, he publishes a small book for children “Notes of the Konnoarmeyts”, in which he tells how he fought and what he had to feel.

These books were a transition to a new stage in the life of the writer Jan Larry. The writer dared to look into the future of the very idea of communism. There was no totalitarianism in the country invented by him, people lived free, directed into space. But there was one and the problem - the global energy crisis. He threatened the existence of the "Happy Country", so scientists proposed a project - the resettlement of mankind to the moon.

For this “project”, critics literally hit Yana Larry: how to leave the earth and move to the moon? The author was accused of pessimism, a misunderstanding of socialism, etc. In an article published in the magazine “Growth”, the novel was called “through and through a hostile, having nothing to do with the Bolshevik understanding of socialism, the agitation of a class enemy”.

The book was removed from the libraries. Yana Leopoldovich stopped printing. He was ready to leave creativity and already worked on other sources - he lost his work in his main specialty - at a fish factory. The famous children's writer helped Larry to return to literature. He gave him a “golden” idea - in a popular form to introduce children to entomology, to arouse an interest in science from the children.

So the story “Extraordinary Adventures of Karik and Vali” was born, which were read and read out! The first to print the children's magazine "Bonfire". Before the Great Patriotic War, it was reprinted by a separate book twice. What is she about? The protagonist Karik brought his little sister Valya to visit Professor Ivan Germagenovich. While they were waiting for the scientist in his apartment, they drank a drink from a flask from boredom.

This was followed by the transformation: they decreased so much that the dragonfly on the windowsill seemed a giant. Young heroes fell into the herbal "jungle" full of dangers. They had to correct adult mistakes in relation to nature, to extract food and blood as insects do. Return home from note that this is somewhat reminiscent of the Book of Selma Laherlef “The wonderful journey of Niels with wild geese”, in which the writer told the children not only about the hero’s amazing stories and dangerous adventures, but also about the nature of Sweden, the attitude of a person, the importance of being responsible for her actions and appreciate real friendship.

Larry’s book also traces important points: adult authority, friendship and mutual assistance, responsibility for their actions, understanding the importance of knowledge about peace and nature, determination, family. Jan Larry managed to convey to the children a very important idea - to hope in a difficult situation, you need to, your strength and knowledge. Yes, it's her! It would seem that in the life of the writer a new successful creative strip came, but ...

In December, Larry decided to write a letter ... Joseph Stalin. The more than a strange letter in which he accepts the obligation to him is to “send his first story with short chapters.”But I would like you to know that there is one eccentric in Leningrad, who peculiarly spends the clock of his leisure - creates literary works for the only person, ”explains Yang Leopoldovich his decision.

He begins work on the satirical novel “The Heavenly Guest”, in which he makes an attempt to show how the structure of the life of earthlings looks from the point of view of an alien. The alien guest talks with the intelligent, worker, collective farmer, reads newspapers and concludes that there are many holidays and idle talk on Earth, laws are meaningless, terrifying poverty reigns, there is nothing new in theaters and literature, science, and the seal suppresses censorship.

Larry sent every new head of the novel to Stalin, whom he wanted to see the “only reader” of the new book. Here is just an excerpt from which it becomes clear what the writer Jan Larry risked: “And your life is boring on Earth. I read, read, but I couldn’t understand anything. How do you live? What problems are worried about you? Judging by your newspapers, you are only engaged in the fact that you are acting with bright, informative speeches at meetings and mark different historical dates and deal with the anniversaries.

But is your present so disgusting that you do not write anything about him? And why does none of you look into the future? Is it really gloomy that you are afraid to look into it? Jan Leopoldovich was arrested and sentenced for anti -Soviet agitation under the article of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, which provided for imprisonment for a period of 10 years.

After that, Larry was to live in exile in the north for another five years due to defeat in rights. Today, after time, the assumptions are expressed that this sentence may have saved it from death either at the front or in the blockade Leningrad. After all, the writer returned to him and his life continued: Jan married, he had a son, he wrote several more children's books.

So, in the year they saw the Light “Notes of the Schoolgirl” and “The Amazing Journey of Cook and Cups”. The last lifetime edition of Yana Larry was the fairy tale "Brave Tilly: notes of a puppy written by a tail." It was published in a year in the magazine Murzilka. And the books stayed with us! Jan Leopoldovich Larry, a good author of smart books for children, passed away on March 18 at the age of 77.

Before that, he was seriously ill and almost did not leave the house, behind which life was boiling. His wonderful books remained with us, which not only captivate their plot, but also make us readers smarter, make us peer into the world and make it better. Galina Semnko, journalist.
