This decision was not dictated by the heart: jurisprudence did not occupy the young man at all. In the most romantic capital of the world, he lives more than solitary, he has practically no comrades. Having studied for three years in the Sorbonne, Flobert was not able to pass the translated exam. In the same year, he was diagnosed with a disease that resembles epilepsy in symptoms.

Doctors urgently recruit Gustava to lead a sedentary lifestyle, and constant seizures, the salvation from which he saw only in the reception of hot baths, eager him. To find salvation from the disease, the future writer goes to Italy. Flobert takes in the care of the daughter of her sister and her husband, and also decides to return home, to her mother, in order to overcome the pain of loss with her.

Together with her, they settled a small, picturesque estate in Croiss, near Ruan. From this moment, the whole life of Flaubert will be associated with this place, which he left only twice for a long time. The inheritance received allowed Flaubert not to know material concerns, not having an official service, he worked on his works daily and painstakingly. In line with the then romantic literature, his first stories were written in the literature: “Memoirs of the Madman” and “November” but in the novel “Education of feelings” that had not seen the light, work on which lasted from the software, notes of realism are clearly traced.

The year dates back to the beginning of his relationship with Louise Kolya, a well -known writer in those days, his acquaintance with whom he brought back in Paris. This novel, at eight years long, was the most long affection in the life of Flaubert. Due to the fact that the writer was very afraid to convey his ailment by inheritance, he, not wanting to continue his family, did not make his hand and heart proposals, although he invariably enjoyed popularity among women.

The plot is simple: an unremarkable, more than ordinary bourgeoisie, in order to give the colors of his life, turns on two intrigues, not noticing that a loving person has always been nearby.

The novel, which ended with the suicide of the heroine, made a lot of noise. The author and editors of the magazine were involved in court for immorality. The sensational trial ended with an excuses. But in the year, the Vatican introduced “Madame Bovary” to the “index of prohibited books”. The finest psychology in revealing the image of the main character became a real discovery in the literature and largely determined the path of development of the entire European novel.

In the year, Flobert makes a trip to Africa, bringing from Voyage not only impressions, but also his second novel “Salambo”, whose action transfers the reader to ancient Carthage, making him a witness to the love of the daughter of the military leader and leader of the barbarians. The historical reliability and respect for each detail of the narrative allowed this book to take a worthy place among historical novels.

The third novel of the writer “Education of feelings” is dedicated to the topic of “Lost Generation”. Until his death, the writer mastered new literary horizons: he tried himself as a playwright, actively used biblical plots. For eight years, Flobert devoted to the novel Buvar and Beijes, who remained incomplete because of the death of the writer. Exhausted by the disease, Flaubert died of an apoplexy stroke in the year.
